Stone Double Bastard - Limited Edition

22oz bomber poured into a typical pint glass.

Pours a beautiful dark amber/red color. Less than a finger of head and some nice lacing.

Nose is full of fruit, similar to a Belgian quad.

Taste is fruits and nuts. Definitely hoppy and no malt to cover it up. A hopheads dream. IBU's aren't advertised, but I'd guess they are in the upper 80's. Just the right amount of bitterness for a double ipa, with a nice 11.2 ABV.

Overall one of my favorites.Complex, yet simple. Sweet and bitter, not over malted like many double ipa's. In my opinion Stone should offer this brew year round.

Smoked Ribs - Baby Back Style

Just a quick shot of my baby back ribs. We used our signature rub with a couple extra spices and man did they turn out good. 5 hours in the Bradley Smoker with Jim Beam wood. This description just doesn't do them any justice.

Hop 15 by Port Brewing Company

22oz bomber poured into a typical pint glass.

Pours a dark golden color with a foamy, fluffy white head and some lacing. Full of sediment, very chewy looking. Not your typical looking clear IPA. See the picture below.

Nose is citrus, orange, lemons, grapefruit. Maybe some pine.

Taste is very good. Hops, caramelized malts, citrus. As mentioned, lots of sediment. Really a chewy brew (in a good way). Citrus and hops linger but no bitter aftertaste.

Overall a good imperial IPA. Very drinkable, but not so much a hop head brew. Tons of sediment in it if you like that kind of thing. On a scale of 1 - 10, I'd give it an 7.

Upslope Imperial IPA

19.2 oz can poured into a typical pint glass.

Pours a very clear golden amber with a nice white head and some lacing.

Nose is hoppy, but not overpowering. I wouldn't call it anything complex at all..

Taste is surprisingly very good. A lot of hop flavor as well as some malt.

Overall a great imperial IPA from Upslope, 90 IBU's, 10% abv. Very drinkable and appealing to hop heads. On a scale of 1 - 10, I'd give it an 8.5.

Stone 17th Anniversary Götterdämmerung IPA

22oz bomber poured into a typical pint glass.

Pours a clear golden amber with a thick white head and nice lacing.

Nose is definitely hops. I think I read there is a blend of 8 different hop varieties. A little citrus, pine and even a little earthy as well as some malt.

Taste is very interesting and unique for an IPA. Lingering hop flavor in the aftertaste with a touch of citrus.

Overall a solid imperial IPA from Stone. Very drinkable and I'll definitely be drinking more of these. On a scale of 1 - 10, I'd give it a solid 9.

Hop Juice by Left Coast Brewing

22oz bomber poured into a typical pint glass.

Pours a hazy orange/copper color with a finger of head and very little lacing.

Nose is piney, carmally malts. 5 hop varieties, but it's difficult to tell which ones.

Taste is pretty malty (over malty imho), a little bitter. Not near enough hop to call itself a double ipa. Bottle touts 'massive' IBU's (hard to believe) and 9.7% abv.

Reading the name 'Hop Juice', I'd expect it to slap me in the face with hops. This really didn't do it for me. On a scale of 1 - 10, I'd give it a 5.

First of all, Happy Father's Day to all who qualify! Just wanted to share pics of my smoked turkey I made for Father's Day. Man was it tasty!

Details: 13 pounder, bradley smoker using maple wood, brined for about 18 hours, smoked it for 7 hours. Was perfect!
